The scanning time is seriously affecting whatever else I want to do on the computer. I run Windows XP and my licence number is [license number removed] .I have not installed any new software recently and my main activity has been creating Word, Excel and Publisher files. And the worst thing is that the audio no longer works, it just has a red cross over the speaker icon like when it is muted, when I click on it the troubleshooter opens and says that "One or more audio service isn't running", I have gone into and when I try to start the audio service it fails to do so.I have tried doing a system restore to a point of a few days ago but after the restart it says that the restore failed and that my C:/ drive may be corrupted (I don't think that it is, I still have all my files and folders and can access it easily).Hello - The latest AVG Free program worked quite well until some time ago.Then it suddenly started taking five hours or more to scan my computer, with about 480,000 items and files. I changed nothing in the commands, I always ask it to do a "fast" scan.
With all your efforts protection starting from a slow PC is concerned we can use any good antivirus program and moreover and important point safe browsing.
Whenever I press the settings button in the lower right corner (windows 8) it just closes and nothing happens.
When I go to the "This PC" tab it takes about a minute to show my drives and folders.
